press credential

Journalist's access permit

A press credential is documentation—typically a badge, card, or lanyard—that identifies someone as a member of the media and grants access to events, venues, or restricted areas.

Press credentials are issued by organizations, government bodies, or event coordinators to journalists, photographers, and camera crews: She flashed her press credential at the security checkpoint.

Having credentials doesn't guarantee access; venues may limit how many journalists they admit.
