presentment
Formal criminal accusation
Presentment is a formal presentation or display of something.
In law, it refers to a grand jury's formal accusation issued on its own initiative rather than from a prosecutor's indictment, or to the presenting of a negotiable instrument like a check for payment.
The word also means a theatrical or artistic representation: a presentment of the nativity scene.
More broadly, presentment can describe how something appears or is shown: the presentment of evidence.
