pregenital
Early psychosexual development
Pregenital describes the stages of psychosexual development that precede the genital stage in Freudian theory—specifically the oral and anal phases of infancy and early childhood.
The term appears almost exclusively in psychoanalytic contexts: pregenital fixation, pregenital sexuality.
It refers to erotic interests centered on body zones other than the genitals.
