predictors

Signs of outcomes

Predictors are factors, variables, or indicators used to forecast outcomes.

In statistics and machine learning, a predictor is an input variable used to estimate a dependent variable: Age and income are strong predictors of voting behavior.

More broadly, anything that signals what's likely to happen: Early test scores are poor predictors of long-term success.

A predictor can also be a person who predicts.
