Pre-party drinking session
Pre-gaming is drinking alcohol before going out to a bar, club, or party—usually to save money on expensive venue drinks or to arrive already loosened up: We pre-gamed at Sarah's apartment before hitting the club.
The term borrows from sports, where pre-game refers to warmup activities.
