postgame interview

After-the-whistle conversation

A postgame interview is the conversation between a reporter and player or coach immediately after a sporting event ends.

These interviews happen on the field, in the locker room, or at a press conference, capturing reactions while emotions run high.

The format has become ritualized, often producing clichés: We gave it 110 percent, We just have to execute better.

Sometimes raw emotion breaks through: a tearful admission, an angry outburst, or genuine elation.
