politically correct
Avoiding offensive language
Politically correct describes language or behavior carefully chosen to avoid offense, especially toward groups historically marginalized by race, gender, sexuality, or disability.
The term emerged neutrally but now often carries a dismissive tone, suggesting excessive sensitivity or enforced conformity: You can't say anything anymore without the PC police coming after you.
The abbreviation PC is common: That's not very PC.
