point duty
Intersection traffic management
Point duty is the task of directing traffic at an intersection, traditionally performed by a police officer standing at a fixed point.
The term is chiefly British: The constable was assigned to point duty at the busy crossing.
By extension, it can describe any stationary supervisory post requiring vigilant attention.
