pluriverse

Coexisting multiple worlds

A pluriverse is a conception of reality as multiple coexisting worlds or worldviews rather than a single universal framework.

The term appears in philosophy, anthropology, and decolonial theory to challenge the idea that one culture's understanding of existence should dominate: The pluriverse accommodates indigenous cosmologies alongside Western science.

It suggests not parallel universes in the physics sense, but fundamentally different ways of being in the world that cannot be reduced to one another.
