plasma panel
Ionized gas screen
A plasma panel is a type of flat-screen display that creates images using small cells of ionized gas—plasma—that emit light when electrically charged.
Plasma panels dominated large-format television in the early 2000s before being displaced by LCD and LED technology.
They were prized for deep blacks and wide viewing angles but consumed more power than newer alternatives.
