pink triangles
Nazi camp markers
Pink triangles were badges Nazi Germany forced gay men to wear in concentration camps, marking them for persecution.
The symbol has been reclaimed as an emblem of LGBTQ+ pride and activism, particularly during the AIDS crisis of the 1980s: ACT UP adopted the pink triangle with the slogan "Silence = Death".
The inverted triangle now appears on flags, pins, and memorial sites.
