pin setter
Bowling alley apparatus
A pin setter is the mechanical apparatus in a bowling alley that clears fallen pins and resets them in formation after each throw.
Before automation, pin setters were human workers—often teenagers—who manually performed this task.
The term applies to both the machine and, historically, the person: He worked as a pin setter at the local lanes.
