pilewort

Lesser celandine flower

Pilewort is a small European wildflower with bright yellow petals and heart-shaped leaves, also called lesser celandine.

The name comes from its traditional use treating hemorrhoids (piles), following the old doctrine that a plant's appearance signals its medicinal purpose—pilewort's root nodules resemble the condition it supposedly cured.
