photo lineup
Police identification display
A photo lineup is a police identification procedure in which a witness or victim views an array of photographs—typically six to eight—to identify a suspect.
The suspect's photo appears among "fillers" (people not under suspicion).
The witness picked him out of a photo lineup.
Also called a photo array.
Compare with a physical lineup, where people stand in person behind glass.
