pendency
State of suspense
Pendency is the state of being pending—awaiting resolution or decision.
The term appears almost exclusively in legal contexts: during the pendency of the lawsuit, the pendency of the appeal.
It refers to the period between when a legal matter is filed and when it's finally resolved.
