pebble-dashed

Small stones embedded

Pebble-dashed describes a wall or building exterior coated with a rough finish of small stones or pebbles embedded in wet plaster or cement.

The technique is common on British houses, particularly from the mid-twentieth century: a pebble-dashed semi-detached in the suburbs.

The finish is durable but polarizing—some find it charming, others dreary.
