peas porridge
Hot or cold dish
Peas porridge, also spelled pease porridge, is a thick dish made from boiled split peas, traditionally eaten in Britain.
The dish is most familiar today from the nursery rhyme "Peas porridge hot, peas porridge cold, peas porridge in the pot, nine days old." As an actual food, it has largely fallen out of common use, though similar preparations survive in dishes like split pea soup.
