paw pad
Animal foot pad
The paw pad is the cushioned, textured underside of an animal's paw—the fleshy parts that contact the ground.
Dogs and cats have multiple paw pads: the large central pad and smaller digital pads beneath each toe.
These provide traction, shock absorption, and insulation.
The vet examined the dog's cracked paw pads.
