paw-paw
Grandfather, to toddlers
Paw-paw is an alternate spelling of papaya, the tropical fruit with orange flesh and black seeds.
In North America, paw-paw more often refers to a different fruit entirely—the largest edible fruit native to the United States, with custard-like flesh and a flavor somewhere between banana and mango.
The spelling pawpaw is more common for the American fruit.
