patricidal

Killing one's father

Patricidal describes something relating to or involving the killing of one's father.

The word applies to the act itself, to someone who commits it, or to impulses toward it: patricidal rage, patricidal tendencies.

Freudian psychology made much of supposedly universal patricidal wishes in sons.

The term extends to killing father figures or founders: a patricidal coup against the party's creator.
