patch pocket

Stitched-on fabric pouch

A patch pocket is a pocket made by sewing a piece of fabric directly onto the outside of a garment, rather than cutting into the fabric to create an interior pocket.

Common on casual shirts, jackets, and jeans, patch pockets are visible from the outside and often have a simple, utilitarian look: The denim jacket had two patch pockets on the chest.
