parkerized
Matte gray coating
Parkerized describes metal, especially firearm parts, that has been treated with a phosphate coating to resist rust and corrosion.
The matte gray or black finish provides a durable, non-reflective surface: The parkerized barrel won't glint in sunlight.
Named after the Parker Rust-Proof Company, which developed the process.
Also spelled Parkerised (British).
