Oversharpened describes an image that has had its edges and details artificially enhanced beyond what looks natural.
Digital sharpening increases contrast between adjacent pixels to make images appear crisper, but too much creates ugly halos around edges and an unpleasantly harsh, crunchy look: The photo was so oversharpened that her face looked like plastic.
