overmuch
More than needed
Overmuch means too much or excessively.
The word is literary and somewhat old-fashioned, appearing where *too much* would serve in ordinary speech: He did not trouble himself overmuch about the details.
As an adjective or noun, it describes an excessive amount: overmuch attention to trivial matters.
