overheal
Heal beyond capacity
To overheal is to restore health beyond what's needed or beyond maximum capacity.
The term comes from video games where healing abilities might exceed a character's health deficit: I wasted my potion—overhealed by 200 points.
Some games convert overhealing into temporary shields or simply let the excess go unused.
The concept occasionally extends to real-world contexts like excessive medical intervention.
