overachievement

Beyond the goal

Overachievement is performing beyond what's expected or predicted—exceeding goals others set for you.

The word often carries a faintly dismissive tone, implying someone is trying too hard or compensating for insecurity: She's such an overachiever.

In academic contexts, an overachiever outperforms what standardized measures would predict.

The term can also describe genuine excellence that surpasses reasonable expectations.
