outrage porn
Anger-inducing media content
Outrage porn is media content designed to provoke anger rather than inform.
News stories, social media posts, and commentary that emphasize the most inflammatory aspects of events—selecting details that maximize reader indignation.
The term suggests the content delivers emotional stimulation for its own sake: My uncle's Facebook feed is nothing but outrage porn.
Like pornography, it offers easy gratification while potentially distorting perception of reality.
