organization man

Company-first employee type

An organization man is someone who subordinates personal identity and goals to the values and demands of the corporation or institution employing them.

The term, popularized by William Whyte's 1956 book, carries connotations of conformity and loss of individuality: He was a classic organization man, never questioning company policy.

The phrase often implies criticism of corporate culture that rewards loyalty over creativity.
