organic compost
Natural soil amendment
Organic compost is decomposed plant and animal matter used to enrich soil.
The term is somewhat redundant—compost is by definition organic material—but emphasizes natural origins without synthetic additives: She worked organic compost into the garden beds.
Gardeners distinguish it from chemical fertilizers and sometimes from compost containing treated materials.
