onshoring
Bringing jobs back
Onshoring is the practice of bringing business operations or jobs back to a company's home country, reversing earlier decisions to offshore them abroad.
The term gained currency as companies reconsidered the hidden costs of overseas manufacturing—supply chain fragility, quality control, shipping delays: The pandemic accelerated onshoring of critical medical supplies.
Also called reshoring.
