nursery stories

Nursery stories are tales told to young children, typically simple narratives featuring animals, magical elements, or moral lessons.

The term overlaps with fairy tales and bedtime stories but emphasizes content suitable for the nursery—the youngest audience: She remembered the nursery stories her grandmother used to tell.

The phrase is somewhat old-fashioned, largely replaced by "children's stories."
