numeral system
Digits and rules
A numeral system is a method for representing numbers using symbols or digits.
The decimal system uses ten digits (0–9), while binary uses two (0 and 1).
Roman numerals, tally marks, and hexadecimal are other numeral systems.
The choice of system depends on context—binary for computers, decimal for everyday counting, hexadecimal for color codes.
