non-relativistic
Below light speeds
Non-relativistic describes physical systems or calculations where speeds are slow enough that Einstein's relativity can be ignored.
At everyday velocities—far below the speed of light—classical Newtonian mechanics works perfectly well: The satellite's orbit can be modeled with non-relativistic equations.
The term appears in physics to distinguish simpler approximations from the more complex relativistic treatment required for particles approaching light speed.
