non-causality
Absence of causation
Non-causality is the absence of a cause-and-effect relationship between events or variables.
Two things may correlate without one causing the other—ice cream sales and drowning deaths both rise in summer, but neither causes the other.
The term appears in statistics, philosophy, and physics, where it describes systems or relationships where causation cannot be established or does not apply.
