net salary

What you keep

Net salary is the amount of pay an employee receives after all deductions—taxes, insurance premiums, retirement contributions, and other withholdings.

It's what actually appears in your paycheck or bank account, as opposed to gross salary, which is the total before anything is taken out: My net salary is about seventy percent of my gross.
