naturalizes
Makes a citizen
Naturalizes is the third-person singular of naturalize, a verb with two main branches of meaning.
In legal contexts, to naturalize someone is to grant them citizenship in a country where they were not born: She naturalizes next month after five years of residency.
In biology and ecology, a plant or animal naturalizes when it establishes itself in a region where it is not native, adapting to thrive there without human intervention: The species naturalizes readily in disturbed soils.
