felted wool
Compressed sheep fiber
Felted wool is wool that has been processed through felting—compressed, matted, and shrunk through heat, moisture, and agitation until the fibers interlock into a dense, non-woven fabric.
The result is thicker and more durable than regular wool, resistant to fraying since it has no weave to unravel: a felted wool hat, felted wool slippers.
