national memorial
Patriotic commemorative site
A national memorial is a site, structure, or monument officially designated to honor a person, group, or event of significance to a nation's history.
In the United States, national memorials are administered by the National Park Service: the Lincoln Memorial, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
Unlike national monuments, which typically preserve natural or archaeological features, national memorials are primarily commemorative.
