nasal swab
Nose specimen collector
A nasal swab is a sample collected from inside the nose, typically using a long cotton-tipped stick inserted into the nasal passage.
The term refers both to the collection device and the specimen itself.
Nasal swabs became familiar to most people during COVID-19 testing: The nurse did a nasal swab before I could enter the building.
