narrative perspective
Narrator's vantage point
Narrative perspective is the vantage point from which a story is told—who sees and who speaks.
First-person perspective uses "I" and limits the reader to one character's knowledge.
Third-person can be omniscient, knowing all characters' thoughts, or limited to one viewpoint.
The choice shapes what readers know and how they experience events: The shift in narrative perspective revealed the villain's motives.
