musical arrangement
Adapted composition layout
A musical arrangement is a version of a composition adapted for particular instruments, voices, or purposes different from the original.
An arranger might take a piano piece and score it for full orchestra, or rework a rock song for string quartet.
The arrangement may alter harmony, rhythm, or structure while preserving the essential melody: Her jazz arrangement of the folk tune was barely recognizable.
