museum opening
Exhibit's first day
A museum opening is the inaugural public event for a new exhibition or the museum itself, typically featuring a reception with refreshments, speeches, and early viewing access.
These events often draw artists, collectors, critics, and donors: We're invited to the museum opening Friday night.
The term can also simply mean the time a museum begins admitting visitors each day.
