mull

Warm spiced cider

Mull means to think over at length, to ponder or consider carefully: She mulled the offer for a week before accepting, I need time to mull it over.

The thinking is slow and ruminative rather than decisive.

Separately, to mull wine or cider is to heat it with spices and sweeteners—mulled wine is a holiday staple.

The two senses are unrelated.
