mixed-sex
Males and females
Mixed-sex describes groups, settings, or activities that include both males and females: mixed-sex education, mixed-sex wards in hospitals, mixed-sex sports teams.
The term appears most often in institutional contexts—schools, dormitories, prisons—where separation by sex is or was the norm.
Interchangeable with coed in many uses, though mixed-sex sounds more clinical.
