misunderstander
One who misconstrues
A misunderstander is someone who fails to grasp something correctly.
The word usually carries a mildly humorous or dismissive tone, often used to deflect criticism: I'm not wrong—you're just a chronic misunderstander.
It can also describe someone who habitually gets things wrong: He's a serial misunderstander of social cues.
