confuser

One who perplexes

A confuser is something or someone that causes confusion.

The word is uncommon, appearing mainly in technical or specialized contexts—software that deliberately obscures code might be called a confuser, or a teacher might identify which concept is the real confuser on an exam.

That last question was the confuser that tripped everyone up.
