mistargeted
Sent astray unintentionally
Mistargeted describes something aimed at the wrong recipient, audience, or objective.
Advertising is often called mistargeted when it reaches people unlikely to want the product: I keep getting mistargeted ads for baby products despite having no children.
The term applies broadly to communications, policies, or efforts that miss their intended mark, whether through faulty data, poor planning, or simple error.
