mispredicted
Guessed it wrong
Mispredicted describes something that was predicted incorrectly.
The term appears most often in computing, where a mispredicted branch occurs when a processor guesses wrong about which instruction path to execute next: The pipeline stalled due to a mispredicted jump.
Outside technical contexts, it simply means a forecast or expectation that turned out to be wrong.
