misleading headlines
Sensationalized article teasers
Misleading headlines are titles that distort, exaggerate, or misrepresent the content of an article to attract clicks or views.
The headline may be technically accurate but omit crucial context, or it may promise revelations the article doesn't deliver.
The practice is sometimes called clickbait when the primary goal is generating traffic: The misleading headline made it sound like the celebrity had died, but the article was about her career being "over."
