mirror scene
Self-regarding film moment
A mirror scene is a narrative technique where a character confronts their reflection, often revealing inner conflict, transformation, or self-recognition.
The mirror becomes a device for externalizing psychology—characters may not recognize themselves, speak to their reflection, or see something disturbing staring back.
Common in film, theater, and fiction when depicting identity crises, possession, or moments of reckoning: The mirror scene where she finally sees what she's become.
